The Moroccan Royal Family and public will celebrate the 16th birthday of the Crown Prince Moulay Hassan tomorrow, May 8.

Prince Moulay Hassan was born in Rabat’s Royal Palace on May 8, 2003, to King Mohammed VI and his wife, Princess Lalla Salma. King Mohammed VI chose to name the Prince after his own father, the late King Hassan II.

The day Crown Prince Moulay Hassan was born, he was welcomed by a 21-gun salute and the Moroccan people flooded the streets to celebrate the birth of King Mohammed VI’s first child.

At just 16, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan is already fulfilling his royal duty, frequently representing his father at international events and making appearances in Morocco.

Most recently, the Crown Prince chaired the opening ceremony of the 14th International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM) on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 in Meknes.

In January, the young Crown Prince flew to Saint Louis Royal Chapel in Dreux, northern France, to represent King Mohammed VI at the funeral of Count of Paris Henri d’Orleans. Wearing a white djellaba and a traditional Moroccan cape, he took his place in the front row alongside Queen Sofia of Spain and Prince Albert of Monaco.

The Crown Prince was also notably the youngest participant at the One Planet Summit in France in November 2017, earning him international admiration.

Morocco wishes the young prince a joyous birthday and a happy year ahead.
