Morocco will contribute with five million dollars to help with Mali's development and reconstruction, said on Wednesday head of government Abdelilah Benkirane who is representing Morocco in Brussels donors conference. Benkirane underlined that Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, will continue assuming its responsibilities bilaterally as Mali's neighboring country, and internationally as a partner for peace and security in the region, noting that the Kingdom is ready to back Mali in top priority sectors. Morocco is also paying attention to the worrying humanitarian situation in the country and is keen to support Mali's national reconciliation process, he added. The head of government also reiterated Morocco's commitment to making the security situation in Mali and the whole Sahel-Saharan region among the pressing issues in its diplomacy at the UN and the different world's forums. He said that Morocco has been for years warning the international community against threats facing the Sahel and Saharan region, including Mali which has witnessed lately a surge of extremism, terrorism and separatism.
