Rabat- Morocco’s defender Mehdi Benatia is likely to join Real Madrid during the summer transfer period, according to Spanish sports website El Mnudo Deportivo.
According to the same source, Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Anceloti, put the Moroccan defender on the list of his priorities, in the likely event Portuguese defender Pepe leaves the Blancos for Monaco.
Benatia was one of the players coveted by F.C Barcelona over the summer. El Mnudo Deportivo reported last May that the Catalan club was ready to pay up to 35 million euros ($ 48 million) for As Roma defender.
But Barcelona’s signing of French defender Jeremy Mathieu, makes his transfer to the Camp Nou unlikely.
