Rabat - Morocco did not renounce to organizing the 30th Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2015) but asked for postponing it on solid grounds, said youth and sports minister Mohamed Ouzzine.
Speaking at the house of advisors' question time, Ouzzine noted that Morocco is ready, at the technical and logistical levels, to host the event and the Moroccan soccer team is also ready to give its best performance. The minister underlined, however, that the Moroccans' health is of paramount importance and "we cannot risk it."
On October 10, Morocco asked the CAF to postpone the 2015 edition of the prestigious continental tournament, initially scheduled to be held in Morocco from January 17 to February 8.
Morocco’s request seeks to avoid the spread of the Ebola epidemic.
